Know About Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy, also called “talk therapy”, or simply “therapy” is the process of identifying and treating emotional and behavioral symptoms that affect your life and wellbeing. Treatment could include a variety of techniques determined by the therapist’s preferred approach. Modern psychotherapy is time-limited, with weekly appointments and it is focused on specific goals. It can be used in combination with medication, depending to the disorder and level of distress.
The Psychotherapy Relationship
The relationship with the psychotherapist is different from other relationships, as the purpose is only on supporting you, the client. You can talk about any personal issues that affect your life, relationships, or work, and your information is expected to remain confidential (see limits of confidentiality). The relationship is strictly professional, thus extending the connection outside the therapy setting is not considered appropriate as it might be harmful to the client.
Would therapy help me?
Psychotherapy can be beneficial in the treatment of variety of issues, including chronic emotional distress, relationship issues, coping with the loss of a loved one, or trauma-related symptoms.
Children’s behavioral problems, fears, and attachment, school performance can also be treated in therapy.
